Saturday 5th March at Nant
10am - 4pm
The day was a great success, good weather, great company, fabulous situation, brilliant vendors and fascinating speakers.
Nant staff looked after us very well. Morning and Afternoon tea of sandwiches, cake, coffee and tea was always available and included in the modest entry fee. Lunch was most enjoyable, with a BBQ set up near our marquee and attended by Nant staff who were very happy to cook Lamb and Mint or Pork sausages to order, with a selection of salads on offer. Of course, we could also take our own lunches, or avail ourselves of the fabulous restaurant and grounds.
We had a special guest attending the SpinOUT event - Mrs Mary Ramsay, who gave an informal chat on “Nant” Distilling Company, the wool industry of the Central Highlands region and Ratho Farm Golf Course. It was very informative and interesting.
Jane Hearty talked of The Falls of Clyde 1831 Textile Gallery and of fabrics and textiles of India and Kashmir, and showed us many interesting textiles and garments.
Jennifer Eddington talked of Long Wool Sheep, and what to look for when purchasing fleece. Jen also showed many examples of different fleece types, helped by Josiane Eve.
Whilst that was all going on folk were spinning, buying, wandering the grounds, and madly spinning in a fun competition.
